Pachyderm Foundation

The Pachyderm Foundation -- an entity separate and apart from the Pachyderm Clubs-- was formed over 30 years ago by George W. Parker Sr.. George was a strong believer in the necessity of developing young people for future political leaders and he founded the Foundation as a tool to accomplish this mission. The purpose of the Pachyderm Foundation is to promote the development of political leaders. This includes advancing political education and the dissemination of information on the U.S. political system. The primary use of funds is to provide scholarships for students in pursuit of studies that would equip them to make some contribution to the political leadership needs of the nation. Such scholarships are provided without regard to race, religion or partisanship. The Foundation is a very useful tool for local Pachyderm Clubs, the Pachyderm Federation and individuals. We provide an avenue that allows individuals to contribute to a scholarship fund on an income tax deductible basis. A receipt is provided for all contributions received. An individual contributor or club contribution can be designated to a specific club contribution. Depending on the amount of available cash, the Foundation may match up to $250 for a club scholarship.

Sponsoring a scholarship provides a vehicle for getting some publicity for the local Pachyderm club. Frequently a news article can be built around the local recipient(s) which gains attention for both the club and the recipient. The recipient(s) is usually asked to come to a club meeting to discuss their experience at the sponsored event. The recipient’s attendance at a meeting helps generate interest toward future contributions and may provide another PR opportunity.

Annually, The Foundation plans to award each participating local Pachyderm Club chapter one Boys and one Girls State scholarship. Clubs may submit one application and the Foundation will make the selection. In addition, The Foundation will annually budget matching funds which will be available on a first come basis.
